In Missouri, we get every season, from hot, muggy summers to snowy, cold winters. The different seasons can cause extra wear and tear on your Subaru, but this can be easily prevented with the right seasonal maintenance. As your Subaru dealer, we want to tell you a few types of essential Subaru maintenance for spring and fall so you’re prepared for the extremes of our summer and winter weather.

From Your Subaru Dealer: Some Essential Spring and Fall Subaru Maintenance

Spring Maintenance

Brake Servicing

Winter snow, ice, and the road salt used to remove them, cause wear and tear on your brakes. Water left behind by melting snow can gather on brake components like metal brake lines, rotors, and calipers and cause rust.

Our technicians will check and test all brake system components to ensure they work correctly and are in good shape. We replace the brake fluid, as fresh fluid provides stronger hydraulic power the brakes need to work effectively. We’ll also replace any worn or damaged components so you have peace of mind that your brakes will work whenever you need them.

AC Servicing

AC components wear out over time, and you want your AC to deliver cold air to beat the high summer temperatures. The refrigerant level needs to be checked, as low refrigerant prevents the air from cooling and can damage the compressor and other AC components. We test that the system pressure is correct and it’s airtight.

The compressor, condenser, receiver-dryer, and all other AC components are examined and tested so they’ll provide cold air on demand.

Fall Maintenance

Headlight Replacement

As winter approaches and it gets dark earlier, your headlights become even more important. Headlight bulbs have a working life that varies from 500 to 30,000 hours, depending on bulb type. Replacing the bulbs improves visibility in the nights ahead. We can also check your headlight covers for cracks or scratches, as these distort light visibility and could let water into the headlight recess.

Oil Change

Oil is vital for your engine, as it lubricates numerous components to protect them from friction damage and allows your engine to work effectively. It contains additives that break down engine deposits and prevent rust. Older provides less friction protection and moves slower due to accumulated dirt and other particles it’s absorbed.

Low temperatures cause the oil to thicken even more, causing your engine to take longer to start. Replacing the oil will help keep your engine clean and make it start easier.
