Our story

A long history. A refreshingly simple idea.

Our story began in 1963 as Webster Groves Subaru, founded by Joe Fichter and Carl Meyer. We've been a dedicated Subaru retailer since 1972, and today we're proud to be part of the family-owned Jim Keras Automotive Group.

More than five decades later, our philosophy is still straightforward: treat people well, tell them what they need to know, and respect their time. Whether you're buying your first Subaru, comparing a Forester and an Outback, or bringing your trusted road-trip companion in for maintenance, you deserve clear answers without the pressure.

We love a great Subaru. We love it even more when the people driving them help make St. Louis a better place. The Subaru Love Promise brings that idea to life through five areas of commitment: helping people, caring for our neighbors, supporting education, protecting the Earth, and finding homes for pets.

Here's what those promises have looked like in our community over the past year. Spoiler: they involve food, warm coats, classrooms, some very good dogs, and people who show up when it matters.

Pillar 01 · Share The Love

When our neighbors need a hand, we bring both.

Food insecurity doesn't take a day off, and neither does the need for community support. Through our long-standing partnership with the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry, we help families facing food insecurity within the Ritenour School District.

In May 2026, we celebrated a $105,000 Subaru Share the Love donation to the pantry, building on years of support. We also served as the $5,000 presenting sponsor of the pantry's 2026 Spooktacular Trivia Night, with team members volunteering at the event.

Pillar 02 · Subaru Loves Pets

Because the best co-pilot sometimes has paws.

Our partnership with the Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA) is built around helping animals find loving homes. At our October 2026 adoption event, six pets—three kittens, two puppies, and one dog—found their forever families.

We also supported APA's 2026 Canine Carnival as a $5,000 Kinder Bark Park Sponsor. Yes, we're perfectly happy to have a showroom full of wagging tails.

Pillar 03 · Subaru Loves to Care

Showing up matters. Especially on the hard days.

In 2026, our team delivered patient care kits to Ronald McDonald House Charities in St. Louis, offering a little comfort to families navigating difficult medical journeys.

We also joined the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Walk as a $5,000 Prevention Sponsor, helping support awareness, connection, and hope.

Pillar 04 · Subaru Loves Learning

Big futures start in little classrooms.

Teachers do remarkable work, often with fewer resources than they deserve. Through our involvement with Subaru Loves Learning, including school-focused efforts with Woerner Elementary and support for educational initiatives such as AdoptAClassroom.org, we aim to help local students and educators thrive.

Because a little extra support in a classroom can go a very long way.

We like our adventures with a side of fresh air.

From scenic Missouri roads to the green spaces we share, the outdoors is worth protecting. Subaru Loves the Earth reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and to making thoughtful choices that benefit the communities where we live and drive.

We're keeping this space ready to feature a specific, documented local environmental project and the people who made it happen.

Making Wishes Come True

One special wish. A moment we'll never forget.

Some moments remind us that being part of a community means so much more than what we do for a living. Jayven's Wish Reveal, celebrated alongside Make-A-Wish, was one of those moments. It was an opportunity to come together, celebrate Jayven, and be part of something truly special.

At Sunset Hills Subaru, we believe that the most meaningful experiences aren't measured in miles or horsepower. They're measured in smiles, laughter, and memories that stay with us long after the celebration ends. Being part of Jayven's special day reminded us exactly why community involvement matters.

We're grateful to Make-A-Wish, everyone who helped make the celebration possible, and especially Jayven and his family for allowing us to share in such a meaningful occasion.
