In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.

That’s why Subaru and its retailers, like us, partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) and their local hospital or cancer treatment center to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by retailers and Subaru customers in their stores, to support patients facing cancer. Through our partnership with LLS, we’ve supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients nationwide. We’re proud to be LLS’s largest automotive donor.

That’s why Subaru and its retailers, like us, host adoption events and donate $100 to our partner shelter for every pet adopted during the month of October*. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, we have donated over $51 million, which has supported the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 420,000 animals. We’re proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
*Subaru retailers will donate $100 for every pet adopted from partner shelters from October 1, 2023 through October 31, 2023 up to $3,100 per retailer.

Sunset Hills Subaru was proud to sponsor the 2024 Earthday365 Earth Day Festival APA Pet Area! The event was held from April 20th to the 21st, at Forest Park in St. Louis MO. Sunset Hills Subaru was there to hand out earth friendly swag, including notebooks, tote bags, blossom kits, pet waste bag dispensers, and more. But the star of the show was the 2024 All Electric Solterra. Sales Reps Jim and Lexi were on scene to educate festival goers on the Solterra, and the tech that makes it a great eco-friendly vehicle. Subaru customers showed up and showed out to support Mother Earth, and were excited to see Subaru's all electric vehicle!
Sunset Hills Subaru and the APA: Making a Dog’s Day Together - Sherry N.
When Subaru says they Love Pets, they really, really do! And our cherished friends at Sunset Hills Subaru walk the talk, too. The Animal Protective Association (APA) of Missouri is incredibly grateful for Ryan, Stephanie, and Sunset Hills Subaru for its commitment to helping pets in our community find safe, loving homes by donating $100 for every pet adopted throughout October and hosting an adoption event at their dealership. On Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, the Sunset Hills Subaru team opened their doors to the APA to celebrate Make a Dog’s Day. This event provides “underdogs” from our shelter the chance to go on a field trip, hang out with other canine friends, meet potential adopters and get lots of belly rubs, ear scratches and treats from customers and staff alike (BTW - the humans enjoyed some treats of their own including cake and pizza – thanks Sunset Hills!). Lizzie, Dutch, Mary Jane Barker, Naveen, Dakota, Gretel, and Forest all got the chance to just be dogs for the day while meeting potential adopters looking to add a furry family member to their pack. While most pets at the APA find their homes in less than a week, larger dogs tend to take a little longer to find their perfect people match. Events like these help them get exposure to potential adopters who may not live close to or know about our shelter. We’re happy to report that the first chapter of many Love Stories was written that day! Both Dutch and Dakota won the hearts of two Sunset Hills staff members who adopted them into their respective homes where we know they are creating happy tales together! Hello, I'm Valerie, and I operate a small shop in Crystal City, Missouri. Our mission is to provide clothing and household items to people facing difficult times, completely free of charge, without any need for questions or qualifications. Currently, we're assisting up to 200 people every week. Additionally, we organize a drive to provide formal wear for kids who can't afford suits, tuxedos, or prom/homecoming dresses. This initiative allows these kids to participate in school events that many take for granted. Last year, we were pleasantly surprised when Sunset Hills Subaru approached us with a donation of both cash and clothing. Their genuine interest in supporting small operations like ours was heartwarming. This year, one of their employees saw a Facebook post of mine seeking information about ordering an exterior sign for our shop. Stephanie reached out and asked if Sunset Hills Subaru could purchase the sign for us. We gladly accepted their generous offer. A few months later, we gathered at the shop with the sign company and successfully installed our new sign. It was a memorable day that I will cherish forever. Sunset Hills Subaru not only provided the sign but also brought a substantial supply of clothing. Furthermore, they went the extra mile by shipping household toiletries, children's socks, and undergarments to us through Amazon. In conclusion, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Sunset Hills Subaru for their unwavering support. Their assistance allows me to continue helping those who have nowhere else to turn. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) & Subaru Continue to Bring Warmth to Local Patients - David W.
Sean Sullivan and Aaron Smith, Sunset Hills Subaru, met David Wettroth, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS), at St. Louis Children's Hospital to deliver blankets for young cancer patients on July 14th, 2023. Emily Rothschild, of the St. Louis Children's Hospital, greeted everyone and graciously accepted the delivery on behalf of the hospital. While the group was not able to deliver the blankets directly to the patients, they had an informative and meaningful conversation about the value of the Subaru Loves to Care® Program and its alignment with the mission of LLS. Thank you, Sunset Hills Subaru, for sharing the love and providing warm blankets to the children of St. Louis Children's!

Dear Sunset Hills Subaru: I wanted to thank the wonderful people at Sunset Hills Subaru. They have gone above and beyond in demonstrating their love for pets and embodying the spirit of kindness and generosity. They have not only taken care of my lost dog Annie, but they have put in the extra effort to make sure she was safe and comfortable in their dealership. They even took her to the vet for a microchip check to find me, her owner. They gave her a wellness check and a quick bath. The staff so impressed us at Sunset Hills Subaru, and we thank them for their kindness and compassion towards animals. The day we lost Annie, we were in such a panic. We had our kids, the neighborhood kids, and, of course, my husband and I running around the neighborhood looking for her. The gut-sucking feeling is indescribable when you lose a five-pound special-needs dog. So, the attentiveness they provided in saving her life on a busy street is appreciated more than anyone could hope for. The staff at Subaru deserve a big hug, which I gave them, and so much more. Sunset Hills Subaru’s continued financial support of the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry has had a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of families whom otherwise would not have sufficient access to healthy affordable food. With the ongoing exceptionally generous support through Subaru Share the Love® Event, our food pantry has been able to keep the shelves full with healthy foods including milk, eggs, butter, cheese, bread, meat, fresh produce, and more. On behalf of our 60 dedicated volunteers, I would like to thank the Subaru Corporation and Sunset Hills Subaru for sharing their love with our grateful clients. Your continued support provides our clients and their families with the dignity and pleasures that come with a casual stroll through the aisles of our mini-grocery store where they select the foods they need and desire for their families. Casual conversations with clients, smiles, and friendships are all part of the typical day at our community food pantry. I had a heart attack while getting service done on my 2017 Subaru Outback. "Subaru staff. Thank you so much for calling the ambulance when I needed help. I ended up needing a stint put in. I was so lucky. The flowers were unexpected & I appreciated the surprise. It's nice to know there are still good people to pass along kindness. The APA Adoption Center and Jenning's Love Story - Sherry N.
The Animal Protective Association (APA) of Missouri is grateful to our animal-loving friends at Sunset Hills Subaru in Sunset Hills, Missouri. On Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, Stephanie and the Sunset Hills Subaru team welcomed some of our longer-term APA residents to the Make a Dog’s Day event at the dealership. Glory, Elsa, Jennings and Murphy got the opportunity to go on a R-I-D-E with APA volunteers to get some much-needed time out of the shelter and make new friends at the dealership. The weather was gorgeous, the customers kind, and the Subaru team were so attentive to our volunteers and dogs, making sure their visit was extra special and fun! This event provided exposure for these good boys and girls and Jennings ended up finding his forever home just a few days later! Jennings arrived at the APA Adoption Center in late September as a stray found in the community. When no one came to claim him, we made Jennings available for adoption. Since larger dogs tend to spend a little longer with us than smaller pets, we were so glad to provide him the chance to take a field trip to Sunset Hills Subaru and inspire their customers to Make a Dog’s Day. A little over a week later, Jennings ended up finding his new family on October 30 (see First Family Photo attached) and we are so grateful for Subaru and its commitment to helping shelter pets by spreading the word on a national level that Underdogs – and all shelter pets like Jennings, Glory, Elsa and Murphy – deserve a safe, loving home. The APA Adoption Center ended up finding homes for 486 dogs, cats, kittens, puppies and small animals during the month of October.
