Six New Beginnings, Six Forever Homes: A Special Day at Sunset Hills Subaru - Robert S.

There is something truly special about the moment a shelter animal meets the person who will change their life forever. Sometimes it's a wagging tail, a gentle purr, or a pair of hopeful eyes looking up at someone who just might become their whole world. On Saturday, October 10th, Sunset Hills Subaru had the privilege of witnessing those moments during our Buddy's Forever Home Pet Adoption Event, held in partnership with the APA of Missouri as part of Subaru Loves Pets Month. Our showroom was filled with puppies, kittens, cats, and dogs, all hoping for the same thing: a family to call their own. Before the doors even opened, a line of excited animal lovers had gathered outside, ready to meet their potential new best friends. Throughout the event, we watched families fall in love, children light up with excitement, and shelter animals receive the attention and affection they deserve. There were plenty of cuddles, happy faces, and a few emotional moments along the way. But the best part of the day was the news we couldn't wait to share. Three kittens, two puppies, and one dog found their forever homes! That's six precious lives that will never have to wonder where they belong again. Six animals who now have families waiting to love them, care for them, and make them part of their everyday lives. This event was especially meaningful to our Sunset Hills Subaru family because it was held in honor of Buddy, our beloved dealership dog who crossed the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year. Buddy came into our lives through an APA adoption event in 2019 and quickly became so much more than a dealership pet. He was family. Honoring his memory by helping other animals find the same love and happiness he experienced felt like the perfect way to celebrate his life. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at the APA of Missouri for their dedication to animals in need, and to every person who stopped by, shared our event, or opened their heart and home to a new furry family member. At Sunset Hills Subaru, the Subaru Love Promise isn't simply about giving back. It's about being part of a community that cares, creating meaningful connections, and making a difference wherever we can. On Saturday, that difference came with four paws, wagging tails, tiny whiskers, and six beautiful new beginnings.

Showing Up for Our Neighbors at Spooktacular Trivia Night. - Robert S.

For Sunset Hills Subaru, supporting our community has always meant more than making a donation. It means showing up, lending a hand, and supporting the people who work every day to make our community a better place. That's exactly what our team had the opportunity to do at the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry's 14th Annual Spooktacular Trivia Night. Sunset Hills Subaru was proud to sponsor this year's event, one of the pantry's biggest fundraisers of the year. But we were even more excited to have members of our team there volunteering and helping make the night a success. Spooktacular Trivia Night brings together hundreds of people for an evening of fun, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs, but behind all of that is an incredibly important purpose. The money raised helps the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry continue providing food and other essential resources to families and individuals throughout our community. Throughout the evening, our team had the chance to work alongside pantry volunteers and supporters who give so much of their time to helping their neighbors. Seeing that many people come together for one cause was a great reminder of just how much can be accomplished when a community looks out for one another. Our relationship with the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry is one that means a great deal to Sunset Hills Subaru. Over the years, we've had the privilege of getting to know the people behind the pantry and seeing firsthand the care and compassion they bring to their work. That's why nights like this are so important to us. The Subaru Love Promise is about being part of the communities we call home, and sometimes that simply means rolling up your sleeves and asking, "How can we help?" We're grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored, or worked behind the scenes to make this year's Spooktacular Trivia Night possible. There's something special about being surrounded by hundreds of dogs, their families, and people who genuinely care about making life better for pets in our community. Sunset Hills Subaru was proud to once again support the APA of Missouri as a sponsor of the 2026 Canine Carnival. Love Promise Champions Ildiko Kinter and Robert Smith spent the day at the event meeting families, visiting with plenty of four-legged friends, and handing out the all-new 2026 "Chewbaru Tailseeker" dog toys. As you can imagine, the toys were a pretty big hit with the dogs! But what really stood out to Ildiko and Robert were the conversations they had throughout the day. So many people stopped by simply because they recognized Sunset Hills Subaru. Some wanted to tell us how much they love their Subaru, while others wanted to thank us for continuing to show up and support pets throughout the St. Louis community. Those conversations meant a lot to us. Our relationship with the APA has grown into something very special over the years. We've celebrated adoptions together, helped pets find new families, hosted events at our dealership, and met countless people who care just as deeply about animals as we do. Canine Carnival was another reminder that the Subaru Love Promise isn't just about writing a check or putting our name on an event. It's about being there. It's about getting to know the people and organizations doing the work, meeting the families they serve, and hopefully making a difference along the way. At Sunset Hills Subaru, the Subaru Love Promise means being there for our community not only during moments of celebration, but also during the moments when compassion, understanding, and support matter most. On Sunday, September 27, Sunset Hills Subaru was proud to sponsor the 2026 Out of the Darkness St. Louis Community Walk benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The annual walk brings together people from across the St. Louis community with a shared purpose: to remember those lost to suicide, support those who carry their memories, and bring hope to anyone who may be struggling. Sunset Hills Subaru employees Arron and Robert Smith joined the walk, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with survivors, families, friends, and community members whose lives have been touched by suicide. For many participants, every step carried a name, a memory, or a story. Seeing so many people come together was a powerful reminder that no one should have to walk through grief or struggle alone. Sometimes making a difference begins with something as simple as showing up, listening, and letting another person know that they matter. Through the Out of the Darkness Walk, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention raises critical funds to support suicide-prevention research, education, advocacy, and programs that bring hope and resources to communities throughout Missouri. For Arron and Robert, participating was about more than representing Sunset Hills Subaru. It was about walking alongside people who have experienced unimaginable loss, honoring the loved ones who are deeply missed, and helping shine a light on a subject that too often remains in the darkness. We walked for those we've lost. We walked for the families and friends who carry their memories forward. We walked for those who may be struggling today. And most importantly, we walked toward a future filled with greater understanding, compassion, connection, and hope. On Friday, September 11, Sunset Hills Subaru partnered with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive right inside our showroom. Customers, community members, and Sunset Hills Subaru employees rolled up their sleeves to help make a difference, resulting in approximately 11 units of blood collected. Several members of our own team stepped forward to donate and support the drive, demonstrating what the Love Promise means to us. Whether it's volunteering our time, supporting local organizations, or simply rolling up a sleeve, we believe even a small act can have a meaningful impact. Every blood donation has the potential to help patients facing emergencies, surgeries, serious illnesses, and other critical medical needs. Sunset Hills Subaru Steps Up to the Plate for 100 Innings for a Cure - Robert S.

At Sunset Hills Subaru, the Subaru Love Promise® means being there for our community—especially when we have an opportunity to come together for a cause that touches so many lives. Sunset Hills Subaru was proud to sponsor the 100 Innings for a Cure Jeff Burton Memorial Softball Game, an incredible event that brings people together through a shared love of softball and an even greater goal: helping support the fight against cancer. But our involvement went beyond sponsorship. Members of the Sunset Hills Subaru team traded their work clothes for jerseys and took the field, with two teams representing our dealership during the event. It was a day filled with friendly competition, laughter, teamwork, and most importantly, a shared commitment to making a difference. All proceeds from the event benefited Siteman Cancer Center, helping support the important work being done for patients and families affected by cancer. More Than School Supplies: Sunset Hills Subaru Shows Its Love for Woerner Elementary - Robert S.

Through the Subaru Loves Learning® initiative, Sunset Hills Subaru was proud to once again support the teachers, students, and families of Woerner Elementary School as they prepared for a new school year. During Woerner Elementary's Open House and Orientation, Sunset Hills Subaru celebrated a $15,000 donation benefiting the school's teachers, helping educators purchase the resources they need to support their classrooms and students throughout the year. Our team also delivered classroom kits for every teacher at Woerner Elementary. In the weeks leading up to the event, Sunset Hills Subaru employees and customers joined the effort by donating school supplies throughout July and August, adding even more much-needed materials for the school. Of course, we wanted to bring a little fun to the celebration, too! Sunset Hills Subaru brought an ice cream truck to the Open House, giving students and their families a sweet way to celebrate the beginning of another school year. The Ronald McDonald House provides these families with a welcoming place to stay, allowing them to focus on what matters most: supporting their loved ones through treatment. Together with Blood Cancer United, our team delivered patient care kits filled with thoughtful essentials and comfort items designed to brighten someone's day. While the contents of each kit may seem simple, they represent something much greater—a reminder that our community is thinking about these families and that they are not facing their journey alone. The sun was blazing, the temperatures were soaring, and yet our community showed up in an incredible way. This year's Sunset Hills Subaru Car Show, benefiting the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry, was a powerful reminder that when a community comes together for a greater purpose, not even the summer heat can stand in the way. Approximately 70 beautiful vehicles filled the show field, representing an impressive variety of makes and models. From meticulously restored classics and modern muscle cars to lifted trucks, imports, and custom builds, there was something for every automotive enthusiast to enjoy. Subaru owners made an especially strong showing, accounting for nearly 25% of all vehicles entered—a testament to the passion and community spirit shared by Subaru owners throughout the St. Louis area. But this event was about far more than cars. Families spent the afternoon enjoying bounce houses, delicious food from local vendors, concessions, music, and great conversation, creating an atmosphere where neighbors became friends and everyone was united by a common cause. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our participants, sponsors, volunteers, and guests, the event raised approximately $2,000 for the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry. Every dollar will help provide nutritious meals and essential groceries to local families experiencing food insecurity, ensuring our neighbors have access to the support they need. Helping Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic Get Back on the Road - Robert S.

At Sunset Hills Subaru, supporting the organizations that care for the most vulnerable members of our community — including our pets — is a core part of our Subaru Love Promise. Recently, we were proud to present Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic with two community outreach vehicles, a 2025 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2023 Subaru Ascent, to help their team continue delivering critical services throughout the St. Louis community. These vehicles will play an essential role in the clinic's outreach program, which provides accessible spay and neuter services that help prevent pet overpopulation and keep animals healthier and safer. Unfortunately, two of their previous outreach vehicles were severely damaged in an accident back in December, putting an important part of their mission at risk. Thanks to our ongoing sponsorship and a generous grant from the ASPCA, Carol House Quick Fix was able to replace those vital vehicles and quickly get their outreach efforts back on the road. Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic does extraordinary work every day to improve the lives of pets and the families who love them. Being able to support their mission and help restore these critical outreach resources is something our entire team is incredibly proud of. At Sunset Hills Subaru, the Subaru Love Promise isn't something we talk about once a year. It's something we live—right alongside the community we're proud to serve. And this year, that promise showed up in full force at the 2026 Soulard Mardi Gras celebration as we proudly sponsored the St. Louis Blues Alumni Tent and rolled through the Grand Parade with heart, energy, and a whole lot of beads. There's something special about Soulard during Mardi Gras. The music, the traditions, the families lining the streets, and the unmistakable pride of St. Louis coming together in one of the city's most iconic celebrations. This year, we were honored to be part of it in a bigger way—supporting the St. Louis Blues Alumni Tent and helping create a space where fans could gather, connect, and celebrate two things this city loves deeply: hockey and community. But the real magic happened during the Grand Parade. It was cold. It was rainy. And it was absolutely perfect. Not even the gray skies could dampen the spirit of our Sunset Hills Subaru team. Dear Past, Current, and Future Customers: I write to share a story about an unexpectedly joyful holiday season experienced by our apartment complex maintenance person J and his family thanks to the compassion, fast action and generosity of Sunset Hills Subaru. J has four children, the youngest just one year old, and the family car, their only car, was stolen and totaled before Thanksgiving. After our residents raised cash for J so that he could provide his family a happy Thanksgiving, I contacted Sunset Hills Subaru to inquire about a car donation program for folks in need. Wow! Was J in luck! In just a few weeks, Sunset Hills Subaru staff identified, repaired, and detailed a beautiful, used Subaru Outback for J. Just days before Christmas, Sunset Hills Subaru staff surprised J with his new vehicle via direct special delivery to our apartment complex. J and his family are so grateful for this very special and much needed gift. Thank you Subaru Sunset Hills for your substantial and impactful efforts in supporting our St. Louis community.

This commitment was proudly reflected during the holiday season through our Pet Photos with Santa event supporting Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic. Just days before the event, Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic experienced a devastating accident that resulted in two vehicles being totaled, another vehicle heavily damaged, and significant damage to their building. These losses threatened their ability to continue providing affordable and compassionate veterinary care to pets and families throughout the St. Louis area. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Sunset Hills Subaru brought the community together for a meaningful holiday event. Families, employees, and guests visited the dealership with their pets to take part in Pet Photos with Santa, all while supporting an organization that plays a vital role in pet health and access to care. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, the event raised $837 dollars to help the clinic begin the recovery process and continue serving pets in need. Every photo taken represented more than a holiday memory. It represented compassion, kindness, and community support. That’s exactly what happened this November, when the government shutdown and temporary suspension of SNAP benefits sent shockwaves of worry through families across St. Louis. Almost overnight, the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry began seeing a dramatic rise in neighbors seeking help—parents unsure how they would feed their children, seniors choosing between groceries and medication, and families who had never needed assistance before suddenly finding themselves at the pantry doors. At Sunset Hills Subaru, we believe that a business doesn’t just "exist" in a community—it serves it. Two of our team members are deeply involved with the pantry as active board members, with one even managing the pantry’s Facebook page to help keep donors and volunteers informed. The pantry isn’t just a community partner to us—it’s part of our family. So when the need escalated, we didn’t hesitate. We answered the call. Sunset Hills Subaru organized volunteers, stepped in to help register new clients, and brought additional hands to support pantry operations during its busiest period in years. On Saturday October 25th 2025, our dealership transformed into a Halloween wonderland for our 2nd Annual Sunset Hills Spookabu Trunk or Treat, and once again, the St. Louis community showed up and showed out in the most incredible way. Families from all across the area joined us for an afternoon filled with laughter, costumes, candy, and community spirit. From superheroes and princesses to dinosaurs and tiny ghosts, our lot was alive with joy and excitement. The turnout was nothing short of miraculous — a true reflection of what happens when a community comes together to create something special for its families. Our team poured their hearts into every decorated trunk, but it was Mike, Darian, and Nick from our Parts Department who stole the show this year, winning the contest with their Haunted Drag Racing theme — complete with a spooky race trailer and a ghostly race car! On one extraordinary night, that love came alive in the form of cheers, laughter, and pure joy—for one brave little boy named Jayven “Ju Ju” Holmes. Eight-year-old Jayven is a fighter in every sense of the word. Living with sickle cell disease means hospital visits, pain, and days that don’t always feel like those of other kids his age. But on this special evening, the world stopped for Jayven—and the spotlight was his. Unaware of what awaited him, Jayven arrived in a limousine at Sunset Hills Subaru, greeted not by doctors or nurses, but by wrestlers from NWA World League Wrestling, who treated him like one of their own. “Flex for me!” they shouted with smiles as Jayven showed off his best moves. For one night, this courageous young boy wasn’t a patient—he was a superstar. As the music played and the crowd roared “Ju Ju! Ju Ju!” Jayven climbed into the ring. The grin on his face said everything words could not. His parents, Ashley and John, watched with tears in their eyes, knowing how much this moment meant. “He’s not like a regular kid—we have to be careful with him,” his dad shared. “It’s great just to get out and enjoy all this.” The love in that room was undeniable. It radiated from every person there—from the Subaru team who helped bring the wish to life, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation who made Jayven’s dream possible, to the wrestlers who made him feel like the champion he’s always been. “All the hard work, all the effort—it was worth every second just to see him lift that belt up,” said Robert Smith from Sunset Hills Subaru. “That smile… I’ll remember it forever.” And just when Jayven thought the night couldn’t get any better, the biggest surprise of all was revealed: “Ju Ju, you’re going to Disney World!” The room erupted with cheers, and Jayven beamed from ear to ear, shouting that it was “the best fun I ever had.” Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.
