When you buy a new Subaru, the manufacturer gives you a guarantee in the form of a car warranty that the vehicle will be in optimal condition during the first several years of its lifetime. As a car buyer, it’s important to understand the limitations of your warranty when you purchase a new car from your local Subaru dealership.

A Look at the Standard Subaru Car Warranty

A new vehicle warranty from Subaru will typically include several coverage plans for specific systems or components of your vehicle. The standard vehicle warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage for the first 36,000 miles or three years of ownership, starting from the date of purchase. This warranty covers repairs for mechanical defects for virtually all components of the vehicle. Other coverages in your warranty include:

Powertrain

The powertrain warranty for your Subaru will last for 60,000 miles, or up to five years. This warranty provided limited coverage for the most essential powertrain components of your vehicle, such as the gaskets, engine, oil pump, timing belts, and other parts.

Rust Perforation

The rust perforation warranty, which lasts for up to five years, will cover the cost of repair or replacement for body panels that are damaged by rust or corrosion. This warranty will only cover repairs if the corrosion is caused by some internal issue and the sheet metal has rusted through completely.

Wear Item

Some of the wear and tear components of your vehicle will also be covered by Subaru. Unlike other car manufacturers, Subaru will cover the cost of replacing brake pads, clutch linings, and wiper blades for three years or up to 36,000 miles.

Hybrid System

If you purchased a hybrid Subaru, then your vehicle will likely include a warranty for the hybrid system. This warranty lasts for 100,000 miles or up to eight years, and covers the onboard charger, electric motor, hybrid transmission, and other related parts.

Seat Belt

The seat belt and safety restraint systems of your Subaru also have a warranty. This particular coverage is unlimited, which means it will last for the entire life of the car.
