Spring is a great time to be driving around Sunset Hills, MO. Fortunately, we’ve found that we don’t have to go far to find great spring activities. This year, the event list is full of promise. Here are some of the top things to do this season.

3 Fun Spring Activities You Can Drive to Near Sunset Hills, MO

1. Earth Day + Arbor Day Celebration

Come celebrate the planet at Sunset Hills Community Center on Saturday, April 29th. You’ll want to get there early if you want to pick up one of their free saplings. They’ll be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis. Bring the kids and enjoy the bounce house, face painting, balloon artist, and shopping.

The event is from 9:30 am to noon and is located at 3915 S. Lindbergh. If you’re coming for the recycling event, enter the community center from W. Watson Rd. They’ll be accepting bikes, clothing, toys and books, and aluminum cans. You can recycle electronics here for varying fees depending on the item.

2. Fishing Derby

That’s right, it’s time to get outside and enjoy fishing again. There isn’t a better way to kick off the season than the local fishing derby event at Watson Trail Park. You’ll find the event at 12450 W. Watson Road. The fishing derby is free but you’ll need to bring your own supplies.

This is an all-ages event and comes with trophies. The trophies will be given out for the most fish, largest fish, and smallest fish. Pack your supplies into your Subaru Impreza and enjoy the sun shining through your sunroof as you head to the derby. For fishing enthusiasts, this is a great way to get back into the spirit of long days by the water.

3. Machine Madness

The city has something a little different planned with the Machine Madness event. Bring the kids to the Community Center at 3915 S. Lindbergh for a night of kid-friendly music, food, and machinery. There will be trucks, machines, and other vehicles on display. Food, beverages, and frozen custard will be on sale, but you’re welcome to bring lawn chairs and coolers.

The music will be provided by the Sour Soda Band and should be playing for most of the event. This is a great community mixer for hanging out and mingling outdoors with your neighbors. It’s happening this year on Wednesday, May 10th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
